Tasman Peninsula
The Tasman Peninsula is my favourite place in the world. Ever. From the noisy bridge at Dunalley onwards there's seemingly no end to beautiful scenery and unique Tasmanian landmarks. The rich (and bloody) history of the region only serves to amplify its splendour. The Cupit family has a long history with Port Arthur, where my grandparents and parents (along with extended friends and family) would set up camp at Safety Cove for months at a time over the Spring and Summer, diving and fishing for dinner most days. Nan and Pa later built in Carnarvon Bay and retired, and Pa built the large jetty that looks out in to the bay and towards the Isle of the Dead. I grew up spending Summers in Port Arthur exploring out in the boat, learning to dive and fish; and although my Nan and Pa are no longer with us, their house remains in the family so our kids can have all the fun we did.
